Astute observers may have noticed that Zdenek visited the pits no less than six times during the race in Namur. This was a lot more than the other riders and Styby was forced to make his way back to the front each time.
"I had three flats and stopped for a drink three times. It was good that I was able to get a water bottle from Wim because it was pretty warm. One time I got really lucky as I got a flat just as I got to Gilbert in the pits."
When Zdenek arrived back to Essen Sunday evening he saw that the neighbors had decorated the street in his honor.
