Styby eighth in the Tour of Flanders

Peter Sagan has won the Tour of Flanders. Fabian Cancellara became second, Sep Vanmarcke was third. Styby finished eighth. “It was probably the most difficult but most beautiful race I’ve ridden. Regardless of my result.”

“When Peter Sagan and Michal Kwiatkowski attacked in the final, we had Stijn Vandenbergh in the front of the race”, Zdenek begins his story. “It was not our job to respond. But nobody else respond either. It was a pity situation.”

Sagan and Kwiatkowski closed the gap to the leader before the Oude Kwaremont. “The gap between the group and the rest of the peloton was around 30 seconds. And on the Kwaremont Cancellara went full gas.”

“I had some difficulties to follow Cancellara. On the Paterberg I could jump to a group that would eventually sprint for fourth place. I became eighth. Not my best sprint and not the result I had hoped or worked for. Next week we try again in Paris-Roubaix.”
