Beautiful start in Essen

Styby became twelfth today in the fourth stage of the Eneco Tour. Which brought the riders of his hometown Essen to the Dutch Vlijmen. The stage ended in a sprint and it was the German André Greipel who was the fastest man.

“It was really a beautiful start in Essen”, says Zdenek. “There were so many supporters, incredible! Honestly, I didn’t know there live so many people! Really nice to see them all around. It’s something I will never forget.”

And the stage itself? “The stage was nice and relax, but damn… the final laps were completely crazy again. It was over the top to put such roads in the course. Very narrow roads and many turns, it was too much. I don’t understand that there is no special rule on safety on the final laps.”

“Of course, I know it’s difficult for the organization too, but I think there must be more and more crashes first. It’s a wonder that there was only one crash today”, said Styby, who is fourth in the standings on six seconds of Lars Boom a day before the time trial.
