"Condition not bad, knee not yet 100%"

After four months without competition Styby today rode his first race with the Tour of Poland. In the first stage the riders had to climb over different climbs in the north of Italy. Diego Ulissi from the Lampre team was the strongest and won.

“The start was in Rovereto and it was about 38 degrees”, says Zdenek. “And that was only 30 degrees more like my last race with Paris-Roubaix. The contrast could hardly be bigger. The race itself was pretty fast until a group with Serge Pauwels from our team OPQS rode away.”

A good situation for Styby and his team. “I didn’t felt too bad conditionally, but I feel that my knee is not yet 100%. I expected that it would be better, but unfortunately it’s not like that. I hope that the next few days I will make some progression.”

“Tomorrow it will be a very hard stage with the finish on the Passo Pordoi. I have done this climb for the first time about 10 years ago, when I have done my first altitude training camp. So I have some nice memories for the Dolomites!”
